VILLA CAMPAGNE

Villa Campagne is a project that was created upon individual request. The investors aimed to build a modern villa inspired by Mediterranean style. Here, we opted for a contrast of black and white, which adds elegance and character to the structure.

Maison Calme is a tailor-made project. Firstly, the investors approached us with wonderful inspirations and very clear expectations regarding the character of the building and its functionality. Secondly, the location of the plot played a significant role, with its narrow width (35 m) and the old-growth forest in the front. When planning the functional layout according to standard assumptions, we would have had to extend the building forward. The terrace would have been on the northern side, and the front would be amidst the trees. Therefore, we completely reversed the project assumptions and designed both the daytime zone and the terrace at the front, thus moving the building deeper into the plot. This allowed us to provide south-facing daylight to the kitchen, dining room, and living room and create a view axis from the terrace to the setting sun.

At the back of the building, a two-car garage with a technical area, boiler room, and storage room is hidden. There is also an additional guest bedroom with a bathroom and a comfortable office that smoothly transitions into a glazed orangery. The entrance area is a true masterpiece. The monumental front door leads to a nearly 15-meter-long vestibule with glass doors, beyond which is a spacious communication space. The entire area has additional side lighting, where we have planned a space for the investors’ pets. The 25 m² kitchen has an additional pantry. There are two entrances to it, one connected to the hall and the other open to the dining area. The daytime area, consisting of a living room and dining room, covers 60 m². In the living room, we designed a horseshoe arrangement of sofas and a charming fireplace portal. From this area, you can directly access the covered terrace, which features a wood-burning fireplace to enjoy cool autumn evenings. The entire terrace space blends with the interiors, as you can also access it from the glazed orangery. There is also a cloakroom for outerwear and a guest toilet on the ground floor.

An elegant staircase leads to the first floor, setting the tone for the interior. The Master Bedroom with a walk-in closet and a bathing lounge is located in the eastern wing of the building, ensuring privacy and sunny mornings—an ideal solution for early birds. The bathroom features double sinks, a toilet, a bidet, a freestanding bathtub, and a shower with a comfortable bench. Additionally, on this floor, we have designed four children’s bedrooms, each in a hotel-style standard. They feature comfortable 160 cm wide beds, a place for a sofa bed, built-in wardrobes, and, depending on preferences, a desk or a vanity. These bedrooms each have access to two fully equipped bathrooms with a bathtub and shower. One of the bathrooms also has a hidden laundry area with an ironing station. The cherry on top is the additional ‘sitting room’ with direct access to the above-ground terrace. This area was designed at the special request of the investors and was inspired by their vacation in a Tuscan villa, where, after a day full of emotions, they could spend a pleasant time sipping wine.

FINISHING MATERIALS

The building has been designed to be highly energy-efficient—its masonry walls consist of 30 cm thick ceramic blocks, which are then insulated with a 20-centimeter layer of styrofoam. The entire structure is set on a foundation slab, which also enhances its insulation properties.

From the outset, Villa Campagne was designed in a Mediterranean style. It features shutters, extended eaves, and Dutch-style roofing tiles, softening the overall structure. The color scheme predominantly showcases a play of contrasts. Crisp white is complemented at every turn by elegant deep black. Abundant glazing is divided by Vienna-style muntins, which are applied on both sides. Additionally, the orangery includes a beautiful detail known as a ‘kopacz’ or kickplate. This is a full element at the bottom of the window, giving it ideal proportions while maintaining ease of access. Both the windows and shutters are crafted from meranti wood.

The building’s facade is finished with high-quality mineral render colored throughout, and all decorative details are designed using lightweight technology. Decorative elements here are subtle because the prominent eaves and terrace finished with quartz flakes imitating stone take center stage. The roof, with a 25-degree pitch, is covered with black Dutch-style roofing tiles with a matte finish. The main entrance to the building is not centered but is offset to the side. Grand entrance doors welcome you inside, and their arched lintel is surrounded by a marble Nero Marquina portal.

For the immediate surroundings of the building, we opted for simplicity, featuring timeless white hydrangea bouquets and lavender interspersed with boxwood spheres at the entrance. Some pampas grass has also been added, providing an excellent complement to the existing greenery on the plot.
