RESIDENCE DE RÊVE
Residence de Rêve was created based on our previous projects in the modern French style. We were looking for a solution that would allow for a reduction in its size while optimizing the functional layout even further.
The building has been reduced in size while obtaining more space in the garage and utility rooms. The ground floor’s living area has not undergone significant changes, but we managed to optimize several elements. The fireplace has been moved to another wall, which now beautifully highlights it in the living room, allowing for a truly American-style arrangement with a fireplace portal. The television and the entire AV system have been placed on an external wall. The living room, covering an area of 40 m², is spacious and connected to the adjacent dining area, creating a space of almost 70 m² in total. The 30 m² kitchen features a large island, space for tall built-in furniture, and a charming breakfast area by the window. The kitchen also has a pantry, which serves as a transitional space leading to the garage, making it easier to unload groceries on a daily basis. In this project, we paid special attention to the spacious two-car garage and an additional utility room, covering an area of nearly 20 m², where you can easily store summer furniture, garden equipment, bicycles, or skis. The heating room is located in the main body of the building and is adapted for both gas heating and a heat pump.
The ground floor includes a 20-square-meter gym, which can be rearranged into an office or a guest room as needed. In addition to the toilet and sink, the ground floor bathroom has an additional walk-in shower. Furthermore, in the space under the stairs, we designed an almost 7-square-meter wardrobe for transitional clothing and footwear.
In the residence, we have the option to create a small vestibule at the entrance or expand the entire hall space to the mezzanine level, introducing large industrial-style windows. The entire circulation area is open to two levels, providing a view of the mezzanine on the upper floor. The ergonomically designed staircase to the upper floor is both representative and comfortable for daily use. A large window in this area ensures excellent natural light, and the spacious landing allows for additional decorative composition.
The upper floor of this building covers over 150 m² and consists of four spacious bedrooms with their own wardrobes or spacious built-in closets. All residents have access to two fully equipped bathrooms, each containing a bathtub, shower, toilet, bidet, and double sinks. If necessary, one of the bathrooms can be directly connected to the main bedroom. For Finnish sauna enthusiasts, we also offer the option of setting up a sauna in one of the bathrooms.
A crucial room on this floor is the comfortable, 13-square-meter laundry room, equipped with space for a washing machine, dryer, steaming station, classic ironing board, soaking sink, workspace, laundry drying rack, and cabinets for laundry detergents, as well as space for bedding and towels. The laundry room has direct access to the terrace above the garage, making it easy to hang laundry outside on sunny days. The terrace is also accessible from one of the smaller rooms.
FINISHING MATERIALS
The de Rêve residence project does not have a basement and has been designed using traditional masonry technology on a foundation slab. The primary building materials may include ceramic bricks or silicate blocks. Depending on the investors’ preferences, mineral wool or high-quality polystyrene can be used for insulation. In the case of a partial cladding with ceramic tile panels, polystyrene is more recommended, as it provides a better base for both the cladding and fine-grained plaster.
The external facade materials used in the de Rêve residence project primarily consist of light, hand-formed ceramic tile panels and warm cream-colored plaster. The entire facade is highly contrasting and is based mainly on shades of black and white, which complement each other perfectly. Delicate decorative details appear in the building’s structure, such as the cornice, window sills, and door portal. One of the key elements defining the building’s appearance is its unique multi-pitched roof with a 45-degree slope, covered with black titanium-zinc sheet metal. The roof and all metalwork have been made using a standing seam technique, which presents an exceptionally attractive appearance.
Accentuating the residential character are refined wall sconces with a simple form, minimalist balustrades, and wooden front doors with slender sidelights. Black wooden shutters have been used at the front, creating a slightly industrial atmosphere when combined with window mullions. The mullion field is enlarged, yet the windows retain their elegant character. The design also includes aesthetic rectangular gutters and partially concealed downspouts for a minimalist effect.
When designing this residence, we placed great importance on creating a cozy outdoor living space. Hence, the proposal for a partially covered ground-level terrace, directly connected to the living area. This is an optional feature, and the suggested structure is self-supporting and does not need to be built immediately.
