HISTORIC HOUSE
Renovation and expansion of a beautiful urban villa, whose design dates back to the pre-war period. We breathed new life into it, drawing inspiration from the architectural details in the original documentation. During construction, many planned elements were not implemented. In later years, the interior of the building changed as per the needs of the then owners. Our clients opted for extensive changes while preserving the original walls.
To achieve the necessary heights, the decision was made to remove all existing ceilings, eliminate the staircase, and rearrange literally the entire functional layout. Regarding window openings, we aimed to stay true to the original, only enlarging them and introducing a new division of the glazing itself. The entire communication concept also underwent a change – now the main entrance is at the front, with representative double doors. We emphasized the symmetry of the building by using windows of the same size everywhere and repeating stucco details. The attic introduced by us gives the structure a modern look and effectively conceals the hipped roof with a slope of 20 degrees.
The previous standalone building gained an integrated garage. Convenient parking spaces with a side entrance were designed in a contrasting and minimalist section, slightly set back from the front elevation. Here, a laundry room and pantry were also planned. The living area is well connected to the garage. Additionally, the staircase to the basement level (-1) is located here, where a recreational area with a home cinema, boiler room, and an additional storage room for preserves has been arranged.
On the ground floor, you will find a comfortable vestibule with built-in closets, a bathroom with a shower, and the living area, consisting of a separately designated dining room for 10-12 people, a kitchen with a large island, and a salon of over 50 square meters. An additional mini-bay window has been added to the salon, creating an ideal space for a small winter garden. The dining area is directly connected, through hidden doors, to the kitchen, making serving meals very convenient, and guests do not have a direct view of the kitchen area.
A comfortable and highly representative staircase leads to the first floor, with a partially open hall extending over two levels, allowing for the display of a beautiful chandelier. The first floor accommodates two children’s bedrooms, each with its own wardrobe, a shared bathroom, and the Master bedroom. Next to the Master bedroom, we designed a spacious en-suite bathroom and a walk-in closet. In the entire concept, we managed to include an additional attic with slanted ceilings, housing a family room, also serving as a guest room.
Are you interested in a similar building transformation? Do you want to give your facade a ‘facelift’ and give it a more classic look? Or maybe you’re planning to expand your home with additional square meters?
Please send us the following information: the location of the project, photos of the building from each side, any existing project documentation, a written description and/or inspirations regarding the direction of the changes. Once we receive the above materials, we will prepare a cooperation offer.
