DREAM HOUSE

The facelift of the facade and several details of this relatively recently constructed building was an adventure for us, demonstrating that with a bit of imagination, one can truly transform a not-so-successful vision into something captivating. However, without the Investors, their determination, and above all, their trust, achieving this result would not have been possible.

Buying this unfinished investment, our investors demonstrated great imagination. Upon receiving the initial materials, we ourselves were unsure how to approach it all. However, the final decision to take on this collaboration was driven by the well-proportioned main structure. The open-shell condition allowed us to smoothly incorporate changes to window openings and facade details. The roof covering was also modernized, replacing the existing bituminous shingles with a simple-shaped ceramic tile that harmonized with the facade color palette.

The unassuming front of the building gained better-proportioned main entrance and several decorative elements in the form of window bands, door portal, and a balcony cornice. The true transformation, however, occurred in the facade and communication area facing the garden. Initially, a staircase was designed here reminiscent of “Dynasty” – definitely oversized and with improper proportions. Our clients were very keen on this part, as, it’s worth noting, the plot on which the building stands has its own fragment of the forest, and the view from the terrace is truly heavenly! The building itself was very well integrated into the terrain and slope. Considering all of this, we knew that without demolition and a complete remodel of the stairs, it wouldn’t work.

The terrace was extended and widened. It is well connected to the living room and kitchen, making it an extension of the daily living area and an excellent place for spending time together. Parts of the terrace gained additional roofing, as well as space for a table and a summer kitchen with a grill. We shifted the stairs to a significantly lighter and simpler form so that they wouldn’t be in the foreground but rather serve as a background. The whole structure was secured with a simple-patterned balustrade. The rhythm of the columns is also essential, as it harmonized and “slimmed down” the entire composition.

The facade is a marriage of two materials and three shades. Beautiful, hand-formed brick appears on the bay windows (front and garden) and on a section of the garage structure, which is minimally rotated compared to the main building. The ground floor and attic in light mineral plaster create a contrasting effect with the roof. On the other hand, the ground floor, visible only from the garden, was proposed in a light gray tone to break the monotony, and it was a bull’s-eye! This approach allowed for the integration of all materials and a smooth transition between the three levels.

Are you interested in a similar building transformation? Do you want to give your facade a ‘facelift’ and give it a more classic look? Or maybe you’re planning to expand your home with additional square meters?

Please send us the following information: the location of the project, photos of the building from each side, any existing project documentation, a written description and/or inspirations regarding the direction of the changes. Once we receive the above materials, we will prepare a cooperation offer.
